NRH Community Read: Life on the Mississippi

Thursday, January 14, 2021

Join us for an engaging discussion of Mark Twain’s "Life on the Mississippi" through WebEx. This book is free for immediate download for all NRH Library patrons through OverDrive.

Before his literary career took off and he emerged as one of America's foremost men of letters, Mark Twain worked as a steamboat pilot in the antebellum South and Midwest. This fascinating account offers a brief history of commercial boating in the period and a probing, insightful, and eminently entertaining look at Twain's own experiences.

This is a free online event for NRH Library patrons hosted in WebEx, a remote conferencing service. Space is limited; registration is required. Once registered, readers will receive a confirmation email that has the WebEx event information. We hope to see you there!

Registering for events is quick and easy! Just click the ‘Reserve Your Spot’ link above, and you'll be redirected to a WebEx landing page. Then, click 'Register' on the left-hand side of the page where it says "Event Status." Once registered you'll receive an email with a secure link to access the event, along with a reminder the day of the event.
