  1. NaNoWriMo Writing Workshop: From Draft to Print 7:00 p.m.

    Congratulations, you've finished your first draft! Author/Illustrator Sarah Mensinga will help you figure out what comes next for your novel, picture book, or comic.

    This event is a part of the Library's National Novel Writing Month events. National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a nonprofit event that encourages kids and adults to tackle the challenge of writing a novel in November. Launched in 1999, NaNoWriMo inspires its 300,000+ participants with pep talks, a huge and supportive online community, and a host of web-based writing tools.

  1. Toddler Time 10:00 a.m.

    November 19, 2019, 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM @ Polly's Room

    This 30-minute interactive program for Toddlers, 18 to 36 months, and their caregivers features stories, finger play, action rhymes, and songs. Toddlers will be introduced to sounds, letter recognition and new words that will help them grow into pre-readers. After the program, toddlers and their caregivers are invited to stay and play with other attendees.

    Chess Club meets every Tuesday from 4:00-5:30 p.m. in the Community Room. Hone your skills or learn the game from chess enthusiasts from ages 6 to 18. No registration necessary; just show up! Please call the Children’s Department at 817-427-6818 for more information.

The Maker Spot

  1. 3D Printing Basics 5:30 p.m.

    Learn the basics of 3D printing on our PolyPrinter 229 3D printers. This class is required for anyone who wishes to use the 3D printers in The Maker Spot. All class attendees must have an NRH library card in good standing. Please read The Maker Usage Policy for more information. All attendees must complete a Maker Agreement before attending the class. This class is open to those 9 years old and older. Children ages 9-13 must have a parent attend class with them. Please arrive early to the class so that it can begin on time. In this class you will learn:

    • Basic parts of the printer
    • The slicing and printer control software programs
    • How the printing process works
    • How to print objects safely
    • How to properly shut the equipment down
    • Basic troubleshooting and when to seek help
    • Equipment reservation process and print pricing
