Intro to Electricity and Magnetism 4:30 p.m.

Thursday, March 11, 2021

Want to learn how to make a magnet you can turn off and on? Curious about how electricity and magnetism are related? Join us for an introduction to circuitry with electromagnets. This simple experiment will teach what an electromagnet is, and how the can be useful in the real world! Any leftover supplies are yours to keep! For ages 12+.

How It Works:
  • Register to reserve your TMS @ Home Supply Kit
  • Pick up your kit beginning Thursday, March 4
  • Log in to WebEx on Thursday, March 11 at 4:30 p.m.
  • Create your first electromagnet!
**Supplies are limited; registration is required to pick up a craft kit.**

To Register:
Click the 'Reserve Your Spot!' link above to access the registration and event page.
On the left-hand side of the page, you'll find the event information and registration link. On the right hand side has where to login to the event, but ignore that for now.

Click the 'Register' link to sign up for the event. You just need your name, email, and library card number to join our virtual events. Once registered, a confirmation email will be sent to the email you provided. Be sure to use an email that you have access to, as we will send all reminders and access links to this email.

Joining the Event:
On the day and time of the event, find your confirmation email with link (or use the same link found above) to access the event page again. This time we'll use the right-hand side of the page.

If the top says the event has not started, this means the host has not yet started the event. Wait a few minutes and then refresh the page. When the event is ready, the 'Join Now' button should turn green  -- do not use the 'Join by browser' option, as it will not let you use your camera!

Note:
if you're using a web browser, you may see the below screen. Ignore options 1 and 2, and instead use "run temporary application" at the bottom to ensure you'll be able to use your camera.
