cloudLibrary Service to be Discontinued

Download eBooks and eAudiobooks with cloudLibrary

The Library started providing eBooks and eAudiobooks through cloudLibrary in 2020 to reduce wait times for popular electronic materials. For three years, we promoted cloudLibrary through email, social media, and flyers in the Library but saw little patron use. cloudLibrary accounted for less than 10% of our total eContent checkouts, while Overdrive's Libby content consistently held at about 90%. For instance, patrons checked out 14,737 items from Libby in June and July and only 1,346 from cloudLibrary.

After reviewing our cost per checkout, cloudLibrary provides a very low return on investment. To ensure that we are making responsible use of the Library's resources, we have decided not to renew our contract with cloudLibrary. The last day cloudLibrary will be available to our patrons is September 30.

We encourage cloudLibrary users to consider Libby as an alternative. We have worked to decrease wait times in Libby, and it offers over 34,000 items. To learn more about Libby, visit their great resources page or schedule an appointment with one of our librarians through our Book a Library Expert service.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but we made this difficult decision in the best financial interest of our Library and patrons.

Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support of the NRH Library.
